I have a Lanos 1.4 1998 that has a horrible flat spot only when the engine is cold.  It starts and idles well and once warm runs nice and smooth, but for the first 1/4 mile just as soon as you press the throttle the revs will dip before picking up again and the car will kangaroo.  It's had new plugs, leads, oil & filter but the flat spot is still there. It is worse when the engine is completely cold (like the first start of the day) but there is still a slight flat spot when  restarting after it has been parked for an hour or so. It's ok when warm but feels as though the fuel mixture is too weak during the initial warm up period?

Sounds like it's the "engine coolant temperature sensor"  gone faulty. It's not sending signal back to ECU to say it's running cold and needs more petrol, but it's okay when hot. Only change with cold engine.  Smiley Smiley Smiley
