147 JTD 1.9 Turbo Diesel 2004. Fault code help.

Hello guys,
Hope someone can point me in the right direction, as my knowledge of Alfa's is extremely limited, to nothing!
Car runs fine, but on dash display occasionally says "Motor control system failure".
Scanned vehicle and got code P1238 - Air quantity.
Erased code but comes back immediately engine is started
Are these descriptions linked?
Also, any info on Air quantity would be helpful.
