On a 1999 model you should only need pin from new clocks.

Did you go into adaptions 00 in instruments to match clocks to ECU?

Why did you use Vag Tacho, when VCDS will have to job start to finish? Apart from Pin code reading.

Does vcds changes mileage on the clock?I don't do mileage corrections (no experience), it's only new cluster that needed correct mileage. So probably i did loads of mess in clusters epprom memory !?

Tomorrow will try to find me old tel. no for digimileage guru-he probably had similar problem(hopefully)...

If they are new clocks, you can put in the mileage once, through adaption 9 of instrument cluster.

I know this may be a bit late now, but.

When using Vag Tacho is similar, you should always read and save EEPROM file before making any changes.
If things go wrong you can re-write EEPROM to original condition.

Which tacho version you are using?

P.S. This car will have to use SH cluster and new cluster will have to become our stock item...

I have had little experience with vag tacho but I'm sure if you plug old dash in and find the facility in dash security and read eeprom. Then plug new dash in after reading that one just in case, and programme/write old dash bin file to new one. Sure there will be instructions on net to explain for sure.

As has been mentioned, if you had all correct procedure written down, then vcds would have been the best way to do this job. I'm sure in vcds you have to change to KM first and enter KM value, then change it back to miles.

1.51. I used it yesterday to do a 2003 Fabia but it came up with an alphanumeric pin that it would read but not let me enter, we pulled the software out of the old dash and wrote it into the new one and that worked fine.
