Help needed with this if possible please.

A Fiesta 2003 automatic with tip tronic as well that is a non start which i think is because its stuck in gear 4 according to instrument cluster.

Scanned for codes and it has 6 stored but i'll have to add them in the morning but at leas t 4 were U codes and all CAN communication faults with ABS-TCM, PCM-TCM and HEC-TCM and then a code for i think gear selector switch or actuator fault.

Obviously without exact codes i don't expect much help but i was wondering if anyone could supply me with some info on how it works.

Datalogger shows its stuck in gear 4 but you can watch it switch from 4 to tiptronic neutral.  Also when you turn ignition switch to start it shows as engine start request yes but engine start relay inactive.

Brake light switches are working ok as well.  Never seen one of these systems before.

Carried out a network test and TCM, ABS and PCM passed so i assuem there all powered up.

Could a fault with the instrument cluster cause a non start as it does ave CAN codes with errors present.

Not had a chance to look other than check codes.

thanks

Try the can bus wires from the motor / actuators to the TCM ! Then see if the motors / linkages are free ish  Grin Normally the motors give loads of problems but i have had them where they actually break the TCM ! Try the learn transmission routine if you can see what happens mate

Hendy,

I tried the learn transmission routine but it failed, may be because all the fault codes stored.

Fault codes stored are

P0919-20-TCM Gearshift control error
U0155-20-TCM
U0401-60-TCM
U0404-20-TCM
U0415-20-TCM

Network Test
U1262-IC

All fault codes retrieved

P0686-60-PCM
P0693-60PCM
P0646-60-PCM
P0460-60-PCM
U1262-63-IC
B1359-63-IC

What i'll do is print off the report sheet and attach it here so you can read through the text description for the codes as well.

Hendy,

It was trying to do something, it made a buzzing noise and a few clicks then said failed on WDS screen.

I'm going to pull car in workshop and have a look. Can't even find a Tiptronic gearbox listed on my Ford TIS disc even though it has a Fiesta 2002 on listed, just a normal 4 speed auto box.

thanks

Just out of interest i removed the linkages from the gearbox selector mechanism.  The black one (longest rod) moves up and down freely but the white rod is stuck.

I then removed motor with white linkage and motor turns freely but i cannot move the linkage on the gearbox which is like a worm drive.
