Have you got a bulb-type test-lamp to take a 12v feed to that small terminal?  [One of only two?]

Has the dash bulb blown?

Fuses in the dash are ok not had chance to check charging light bulb yet, but could you tell me if the supply comes from the bulb or the alternator ?

The excitation current for the alternator normally comes through the bulb.

That's why I asked those 2 questions- what's the answer?

That's understood - but have you got a test-lamp [or can you make one] and how many terminals are there on that alternator?

Angus I'm glad you asked that as my apprentice said there were more terminals on the alternator than on the wiring
