Hi all,

hope someone can shed some light on this problem.

Car came in with head gasket failure. Straight forward job, or so i thought.
Rectified original problem with head skim & pressure test, new gasket, bolts etc.
All was well until yesterday when car came back with oil leak. The original job was carried out in January.
Removed cam belt cover and found large quantity of oil around belt and cover. Thought that it could be
leaking cam seal. Stripped off cam pulley to find seal bone dry but oil coming out of pulley bolt hole in cam.
Oil was being flung off pulley and around cover. I refitted pulley etc and put some locktight on bolt. After running engine for 10 minutes found oil was still being forced out past threads on bolt.

There looks to be an electronic pressure relief valve of some sort on the top of the front camshaft bearing cap which looks like it should regulate oil pressure to front cam bearing on exhaust cam.

Question is has anyone come across this problem before, and am i right in thinking the valve is a pressure relief valve?
Also, does anyone know how to test the valve ( i have checked with 12v supply and the plunger moves)
and how to test the signal for the valve.

Sorry for the long winded post.

All help much appreciated,

Andy.
