Hi Guys 3rd posting on this site so please be gentle with me !!!!!
I've got a  Mitsubishi diesel L200 4 Life  2004 UK registration, does anyone know what OBD protocol is used on this make/model.
I have bought a code scanner  GS400 that reads most type's of protocol but not mine !!!!!!! Main dealer has no idea and Colt are getting back to me Arrggga

Looking at the OBD socket pins 1-3-8-10-12-13-16  have contacts visible I am chasing my tail on this one the guy where I go the Reader from indicted that the protocol changed  on the 03-04 model but I'm not sure if that's correct.
Sorry if this is a bit long winded but I have tried to include as much as I can
Thanks for any replies

rog

Welcome to the forum.

It's probably still a manufacturer-specific protocol; it should be almost into the EOBD zone by then, but many still aren't.

Are you sure about the pin numbers? I am missing pin 4 and/or 5, which are ground.
So, most diesel engines had to be EOBD compliant in 2004 but there are exceptions.
Commercial vehicles are one of the exceptions.
The last of the commercial vehicles did not have to comply until 2007.

good point old ford.

I suspect he's calling 1 - 16 and vise versa. If so, this would give the pin no's as: 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 14, 16. (if I've worked it out correctly??)

which would make much more sense, as you'd expect 4, 5, 7 and 16 at least, although 14 is CAN low SAE J2284, but the matching CAN high would be on pin 6.

I'm confused...................again  Grin

Thanks for the replies,
I was taking the pins using (Viewed from front, keyway at the bottom) pin 1 as top left and  pin 9 bottom left davy crocket is correct with the sequence I was counting 1-16 but there is  no pin visible on pin 6 though Still confused but it's beginning to look like Mitsubishi's own system  Cry

rugerrrog,

Have a look at this link. These pin numbers are the ones we all work with.

Do they agree with what you have posted so far?

Thanks Top gun, Smiley

Yes they are as I have now recorded them 1-4-5-7-9-14-16, although I see none of them mention pin 1 so it looks even more like a unique protocol  Dammn
