I have a Daewoo Matiz that has an immobiliser fault. I thought from the Car's behaviour that the distributer had gave up so i tried a Known good one on. It still only gives one spark immediately the engine starts to crank and does not spark again after that until cranking stops and tried again.

2 fault codes stored P1600 immobiliser malfunction and P1602 immobiliser malfunction.

My question is why is the immobiliser faulty yet it appears to be reading the key. The LED on the centre console goes out immediately when the ignition is turned on.

the codes are from the Engine control unit, thanks Derek. I read on a Daewoo owner forum that the p1600 means that there is no answer from the immobilizer as opposed to incorrect answer. p1602 means the ecu is locked.

Hmmmm can the Immobiliser be bypassed. PM me please if there is a way.

Sorry but no John, the last time i saw that car, it was flying through the air safely landing in the middle of the scrap heap where it belongs. Apparently it may only need the keys resynchronised but the owner didn't wish to pay and left it with me to scrap it.
