had this van dumped on me to try and solve problem when cold will not start tow it it starts fine and will run all day untill cold again need to read fault codes found round plug on passenger side which looks like the mercedes plug dose any one now what diagnostic equipment will work on this van

Will it start using jump leads when cold or just with a tow? Also when it is cold i take it is spinning the engine over fine? Just not firing?

year 2002 engine code 8140 .43s  bosch common rail the owner of van sprays aero start to get it going in the morning and its right all day its had a  new sensor on the fuel rail and the main dealer want 2000 to 3000 pounds to put it right only done 60,000 miles

The Marelli/Texa scanners cover these.

They eat low-pressure pumps; but this doesn't sound like a typical case.  Maybe it's got a cracked injector and an injector leakoff test will show one with excessive leak-back.

robbie check the batt mate they sound as if there cranking fast enough but you realy do need a decent punchy batt with these  Wink
