had same problem on my wifes lanos. Bought another idle  valve gear form scrapyard but same problem .My friend and i after taking one to bits to see how the idle vavle works realised the problem is caused by the fact there should be two plactic guides to stop the  plunger turning when the motor turns but these get worn off allowing the plunger to turn as well as the motor causing this failure. Our cure was to take a soldering iron and melt two new plastic tabs into the grooves and this cured  the idle problem.

Forgot to add if you take the idle valve out and you can turn the plunger say more than a few degrees its gone. the plastic guides are worn off.You should only be able to move the plunger a little bit .
When you put it back in after melting the new plastic guides check the spring moves freely in and out. The plastic all though hard is the only thing thats stops the plunger moving with the motor when it turns remember to allow some movement as the plunger has to be able to move in and out . When putting the idle gear back in to the car wiggle the plunger into the valve until spring fully depressed or you cannot move it in any further the car will start after a couple of tries and if the idle gear is working it will reduce the revs to there corect level of about 900 when the engine is warm this fault.
i have been told is quite common but expensive to fix 120 pound UK i was quoted for a replacement from main dealer

This should be the same for vauxhall cars that use this idle valve in there injection systems.

Please remember if  you use this to repair to the idle valve i would still recommend to get a new one
if the valve sticks the car can rev to quite high levels and could cause an accident.

I've got an identical fault on my Leganza 2.0 (see the thread on here). Its going to have the ECU remapped tonight, and while its there, the idle speed control valve re-initialised. The temporary cure mentioned above does work for a short time, but you have to get the ECU sorted, otherwise it'll happen again and again.
It is, by the way, a common Daewoo fault, and most diagnostic tech's are well aware of it.

ok after 80 emails or so im now
fed up with typing this lol
so here goes.

you need to disconnect your car battery for about 30 secs
disconnect idle control valve plug.
reconnect  both
start the car, do not touch throttle / pedal.
turn lights on / a/c on heated rear screen,
just to load alternator.
leave the car running with that lot on
for 10mins do not touch a thing.
then switch off everything apart from the engine .
leave for 10 mins again.
do not touch a thing.
turn off and cross your fingers.

restart and hope it is cured.
goodluck

hello just read this post any time we get this problem we just disconnect the battery for 5 min reconnect it and it is fixed never had to disconnect anything else as when you disconnect the battery the ICV would have no power any way so whats the point in removing the plug.Maybe the dealer was trying to make it seem it was something special info he was giving out as for promise you wont tell anyone he sounds like a right  jobs worth twat :eug
