Can we have just a few details about the exact fault and how it occured.  I take it that this is a 1.8TD Mondeo.  If you do actually need a turbo; I'm sure that I've got a few new ones around somewhere.

it's 1735cc,please bear in mind i'm a simple girl and i'll try and explain....the car started to go sluggish until the turbo refused to kick in.i showed it to a friend who loosened a gate in the turbo and it came back to life only to go sluggish and the turbo to die two weeks later,he looked at it again but the gate wasn't stuck.i phoned for a new turbo but the guy claimed he'd never had to sell one which made me curious as to why not and maybe there's just a little thing wrong so i cantacted you guys as i can't afford a new turbo.another friend suggested an oil change will help.i know nothing about cars (as you can probably guess).i live in hilly wales and unless i can get the rev's over 2000 before i go up hill i'm stuck but the engine is so slow to get above 1000.HELP

This low-speed flat-spot sounds much more like the boost-pressure capsule on the injection pump isn't doing it's job.  Get the thin steel and rubber pipe that runs from the inlet manifold to the round unit on the front of the injector pump checked - particularly the short rubber section for blockage and splits.

Without a working pressure feed, that little unit doesn't add the extra fuel that the engine needs to mix with the turbo's extra air.  They are horribly flat at low revs if anything happens to that system.

P.S.  It's a 1753cc unit; always been known as a 1.8TD.  Should have boot badges to that effect.
