The DEC SuperScan 2 hardware consists of a steel cased interface box and a set of leads to connect this unit to the car. Exactly which leads are included depends on which vehicle manufacturer you have chosen
The back of the Superscan has three connections. They are the diagnostic cable to the car and oscilloscope BNC connections for channels 1 and 2
The optional (but highly recommended) BlueTooth antenna is also fitted into the rear panel.
Power for the SuperScan 2 is provided via the diagnostic link cable. No batteries or extra cables are required for power.
Normal power requirements are 12volts but the SuperScan 2 is also 24volt ready and applications for heavy goods vehicles are in the development pipeline
The front panel has the USB and Serial connections and the information LEDs 
The interface is an extremely high quality steel cased unit and contains all the electronics including the twin channel oscilloscope, USB and serial interfaces, Class 1 Bluetooth Radio and CAN-BUS analyser.
The hardware is backed by a three year hardware guarantee against faulty manufacture.
Connection between the car and the Superscan is by a four meter long (12 feet) heavy duty cable and a selection of adapters to suit the vehicle being tested.
Connection between the Superscan and PC or laptop is by 2 meter long serial or USB cable
Connection can also be made by the Class1 Bluetooth radio which has a range of up to 100 meters (300 feet)
